Abstract
1,252,489. Foldable tables. R. V. MACKAY. June 8, 1970 [June 14, 1969], No.30263/69. Heading A4H. A lectern comprises a base 10, an upper assembly 11 including an inclined top 12, and three pairs of hinged support members 13, (14), 15, front members 13 being respectively hinged at 16 and 17 to the base 10 and upper assembly 11 and mutually hinged at 18, and the side members (14), 15 being hinged at (20, 21), 23, 24 to the base and upper assembly and mutually hinged at (22), 25. The top 12 can be lowered from the raised position as shown by folding members 13 outwardly and members (14), 15 inwardly on the base 10 see Fig. 1 (not shown). A tension spring (26), Fig. 7 (not shown) connected between upper member 13 and top 12 biases members 13 to the extended position. Strips (33) Fig. 8 (not shown) on upper member 13 co-operate with strips (29) on upper members (14), 15 during raising of the top 12 to transmit rotation of members 13 to members (14), 15. The lectern may include a single pair of central side members. The invention may be applied to a caravan table where a section of floor can be raised to table height.
