Abstract

1,252,206. Free flowing particulate compositions. KRAFTCO CORP. 10 June, 1969, No. 29241/69. Heading A2B. A flowable particuate composition comprises a mixture of a solid and a liquid additive, said additive being selected from liquids or liquefiable materials with melting points less than 100‹C, for example oils, fats, alcohols, or acids, and forming at least 25 wt. % of the composition, said solid being selected from film forming materials, proteinaceous materials, carbohydrate materials, or mixtures thereof, and substantially insoluble in the liquid additive, and having been treated so as to decrease the bulk density thereof, said treatment further providing said solid as individual substantially spherical particles, said particles being substantially non-agglomerated, the liquid additive being carried by said particles. A suitabe treatment comprises forming a fluid dispersion of the solid, injecting gas thereinto, and spray drying. Examples relate to cottonseed oil or whey solids, with or without sodium caseinate, which may inter alia be combined with a cheese-garlic spice mixture to give a mixture which may be reconstituted with water to give a salad dressing, or in the preparation of cake and pastry mixes. Another carrier, for ethanol or chicken fat, is a lactose-gelatin mix.
