Abstract

Flow of fuel to a gas turbine engine is controlled by a throttle valve comprising a tube 11 which is axially moveable within a fixed sleeve 12 and a moveable sleeve 12a to vary the size of one or more throttling apertures 11a, the movement being effected by capsule 17 subjected externally within a chamber 26, 25 to an air-pressure derived from the engine compressor and connected to the tube 11 by means of levers 18 pivoted at 19, a link 20, lever 21 and an H-shaped member 22. The member 22 comprises upper limbs pivotally connected to a collar 23 secured to the tube 11, lower limbs pivotally mounted on trunnions 24, and a bridge piece to which the lever 21 is secured. The interior of the capsule 17 is either evacuated or subjected to a further air-pressure derived from the engine. The chamber 16 surrounding the tube 11 and containing liquid fuel which has leaked from a cavity 13 past a seal 14 is isolated from the chamber 25, 26 containing air under pressure by means of a bellows 28 surrounding the lever 21 and secured at one end to a ring 29 and at the other end to a ring 27 clamped between the lever and the member 22.
