Abstract

1,252,084. Thermally insulated pipes. KABEL - UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 14 Jan., 1970 [18 Jan., 1969], No. 1824/70. Heading F2P. A method for the continuous production of thermally insulated pipes, consisting of at least two coaxial corrugated tubes insulated in relation to one another by foamed plastics material, wherein one or more foamed polyamide spacers are applied spirally to a corrugated copper inner tube which is drawn off a drum. The inner tube carrying the spacer is then introduced into a forming device, in which a steel strip drawn off a reel is formed into a longitudinally slit tube. Powdered foamable polyamide material is introduced into the slit tube which is then welded by means of a welding electrode. The outer tube is then corrugated and the tube is then heated to bring about the expansion of the foamable material.
