Abstract

1,252,000. Container traffic; collapsible container. T. HOWE. 18 Nov., 1969 [21 Nov., 1968], No. 55080/68. Heading B8Q. In a container having collapsible corner posts 18, securing means 44 are provided at each corner whereby a plurality of such containers may be secured together and handled as one. Each securing means comprises a block 46 secured to support members 42, 48, upon which an adjacent container may be supported and a key 50 which engages a complementary shaped aperture 54 in a plate 52 secured to the underside of said adjacent container. A pin 54 extends through the block 46 and the key 50 to mount a head 58, of similar cross-section to the key 50, and is rotatable by a lever 62 to turn the head between an inoperative position (shown in full line) and an operative position (shown in chain dot line) to secure the containers together. The lever 62 is received in a slot 64 and locked therein by a catch 66 when the head is in its operative position. An alternative construction for rotating the pin 56 is described Fig. 4 (not shown).
