Abstract
1,251,957. Gudgeon pins. BRITISH LEYLAND TRUCK & BUS DIVISION Ltd. 5 Feb., 1969 [5 Feb., 1968], No. 5763/68. Heading F2T. In a gudgeon-pin connection between a connecting rod and piston of an internal combustion engine the ends of the gudgeon pin, which may contact the cylinder wall in operation, are faced by depositing thereon a layer of material other than that of the pin. The facing material may be of aluminium bronze or a steel pin and may be deposited by flame-gun, plasma-gun or electroplating. The ends of the pin may be machined to a radius slightly less than that of the piston. A maximum layer thickness of about 0À03 inch is given.
