Abstract

1,251,419. Spanners. HEPWORTH ELECTRICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 16 June, 1970 [17 June, 1969], No. 30503/69. Heading B3N. A spanner is made wholly or in part of fibrereinforced plastics. The plastics may be nylon or polycarbonate whilst the fibre-reinforcement is glass-fibre within the range 30% to 60% by weight of the mix though preferably it is 40% by weight of the mix. Preferably the spanner is a ring spanner and has a metal ring 11 to reinforce the head. The ring is of paramagnetic material and is a slice of round or hexagonal bar with a hexagonal hole. The outside of the ring may be knurled or the annular sides of the ring may have holes drilled therein to provide keying with the plastics material which may also overlap the annular faces of the ring.
