Abstract

1,063,936. Tyre studs. KENNAMETAL Inc. Oct. 29, 1965, No. 45878/65. Heading B7C. A tyre stud comprising a single-headed body 16 and a wear-resistant pin 18 has an axial cavity 30 at its head end so as to lower the resistance of the stud to being pushed into a blind hole in the tyre tread. The head preferably is ribbed or indented (see Figs. 6, 7, not shown) or has a non-circular cross-section to inhibit rotation of the stud. The pin is of tungsten carbide and may have a non-circular cross-section. The body may be of stainless steel, plastics, plastlcs bonded fibreglass, or glass.
