Abstract

1,251,202. Hose end-fittings. SCHWARZ MINING & INDUSTRIALS Ltd., and P.B.M. LITTLE, [trading as HOLYWELL ENG. CO.]. 5 Feb., 1969 [8 Feb., 1968], No. 6352/68. Heading F2G. The tubular nipple 11 of a hose end-fitting is provided with a U-piece 20 welded in the nipple bore to which a cable 17 is secured, said cable extending through the hose and being attached to a like end-fitting at the opposite hose end so that, in the event of failure of the end-fitting/ hose attachment, the end fitting is restrained from flying off. The hose is clamped to the nipple by an externally-tapered split collet 13 which is closed on to the hose by a tapered bored ring 14 drawn towards an intermediate collar 12 on the nipple by bolts 15. The free end of the nipple may be provided with a flange 16. Alternatively, a pair of assemblies comprising a collar, collet and ring may be provided on each half of a common nipple for joining two hoses together.
