Abstract
1,250,581. Sampling liquids. GILLETTE INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 July, 1970 [3 July, 1969], No. 33625/69. Heading B8N. A device for obtaining a urine specimen from the mid-stream of micturition comprises an outer tube 1, a branch tube 13 extending downwardly from the outer tube 1 for connection to a specimen container 3, an inner tube 21 slidable or rotatable within the outer tube 1, and a handle 23 for moving the inner tube 21 between positions in which it opens and closes communication with the branch tube 13. For female use, a triangular end 12 of the tube 1 is engaged between the forward parts of the labiae to surround the outlet of the uretha, with the branch tube 13 closed, and after micturation, e.g. for one second the inner tube 21 is pulled out, to a position limited by a stop 14, to direct flow into the container 3. After e.g. a further second, the handle 23 is pushed back and the container 3 detached. In modified constructions, not shown, the handle 21 may be attached at an intermediate position of the tube 21 for sliding in a slot of the outer tube 1, and the parts may be modified for male use.
