Abstract
1,249,858. Artificial stone tiles. CERTELS Ltd. 31 Dec., 1968 [5 Jan., 1968], No. 900/68. Heading C1H. Floor and wall tiles having a stone-like appearance are made by firing at 1120- 1200‹ C. a compressed green shape comprising by weight a major proportion of pulverized granite, a minor amount of green strength binder, water, and 1-20 parts of sodium chloride per 100 parts of granite. 5-10 parts finely ground feldspar, 5-20 parts of finely ground quartz and 2-5 parts of borax may be included per 100 parts granite. A suitable green strength binder is 0À5-5 parts bentonite per 100 parts granite. A suitable granite contains 30% plagioclase, 6% orthoclase, 45% quartz and 18% mica.
