Abstract

1,249,844. Comminuting apparatus. CONDUX-WERK-HERBERT A. MERGES K.G. 9 March, 1970 [21 March, 1969], No. 11137/ 70. Heading B2A. Comminuting apparatus 1 for sewage comprises a rotary screening drum 2 and a fixed comb 3, cutting teeth 9 projecting beyond the outer surface of the drum 2 and at least one cutting bar 8 inset from the outer surface of the drum and having at least one free cutting edge which cooperates with the cutting edges of the fixed comb 3. As described the drum comprises screen rings 4 connected by vertical backing members 5, and recesses 6 in which are arranged alternate offset section 7 and 7' to form bars 8, the sections 7 carrying the teeth 9. The comb includes a reversible, sectioned comb-bar 12 having teeth 14, 16. In operation sewage enters the apparatus at 13 and is discharged at 15. The cross section of each screening ring 4 tapers towards the central axis of the drum in order to promote through flow of material.
