1,249,587. Stabilization of vinyl resins. TENNECO CHEMICALS Inc. 10 April, 1969 [26 April, 1968], No.18550/69. Heading C3P. A vinyl halide resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a vinyl halide resin and a stabilizer comprising (a) 0À5-10 parts by weight of a calcium, zinc, cadmium, tin, magnesium or zirconium salt of a C 6-22 alkanoic acid, benzoic acid, alkylbenzoic acids or hydroxybenzoic acids or mixtures thereof and (b) 0À1-2 parts by weight of a dialkyltin maleate having C 4-10 alkyl groups, an alkyltin mercaptacid ester of formula R n Sn(SCH 2 COOR<SP>1</SP>) 4-n wherein R=C 4-10 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP>=C 6-18 alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl and n= 1, 2 or 3, or a mixture thereof. The composition may also contain 0À1-10 parts by weight of an organic phosphite, e.g. tris-(nonylphenyl) phosphite, 0À1-1 part by weight of a polyhydric alcohol, e.g. sorbitol pentaerythritol, and 0À01-0À6 parts of a tri-(alkyl) phenol, 3,3<SP>1</SP>-thiodipropionic acid or 4,4<SP>1</SP>-thiodibutyric acid or their alkyl esters or mixtures thereof as antioxidant, as well as conventional additives such as dioctyl phthalate, dibutyl sebacate, tricresyl phosphate and octyl diphenyl phosphate. Specified vinyl resins include homopolymers of vinyl chloride, vinyl bromide and vinylidene chloride and copolymers of vinyl halides with vinyl acetate, propionate and butyrate, styrene, methylmethacrylate and dialkyl maleate and fumarate.
