Abstract

1,249,535. Thermoplastic polyester moulding composition. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 28 Nov., 1969 [5 Dec., 1968], No. 58328/69. Heading C3R. A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises (a) a linear saturated polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and optionally 10% by wt. of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid based on the total wt. of dicarboxylic acid and a saturated aliphatic or alicyclic diol or a polyester of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and (b) from 0À05 to 1À5% by wt. of the polyester of an alkali metal salt RCOOM where M is the alkali metal and R represents an alkyl, cycloalkyl, bicycloalkyl, alkaryl or aralkyl group of 2-20 carbon atoms and which contains an epoxide group and may contain ether links and/or further alkali metal carboxylate groups. In the examples the composition is polyethylene terephthalate with sodium-(9,10)-epoxy stearate, a sodium salt of salicylic acid glycidic ether and sodium 3,4- epoxycyclohexane carboxylate.
