A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises granules of a polyester coated with 0À01 to 1% by weight of a neutral or partially neutralized salt of montan wax or of a montan wax ester. Specified salts are those of Li, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Be and Al. The granules comprise (a) a linear saturated polyester, (b) 0 to 3% by weight based on the polyester of an inert inorganic substance having a particle size of less than 5 microns, (c) 0 to 2% by weight based on the polyester of an epoxide of Formula I where R, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each hydrogen, or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic group, which groups R, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 may be joined to form a ring and at least one of which groups contains a further epoxide grouping and (d) 0 to 1À5% by weight based on the polyester of a neutral or partially neutralized salt of montan wax or of a montan wax ester, and the granules have a moisture content of less than 0À01% by weight and a reduced viscosity of at least 1À25 dl./g. (1% solution in 60 ; 40 phenol : tetrachloroethane at 25‹ C.). The polyester may be polyethylene terephthalate (which may be modified with a small amount of pentaerythritol or of 1,1,4,4 - tetramethylol cyclohexane) or polycyclohexane - 1,4 - dimethylol terephthalate, and may also contain units of hydroxycarboxylic acids. The inert inorganic solid may be an alkaline earth metal carbonate, titanium dioxide, aluminium oxide, talc or an aluminium silicate. The epoxide may be an alkane-polyolpolyglycidyl ether, preferably butane-1,4-diol diglycidyl ether.
