Abstract

1,248,985. Welding by fusion. AVESTA JERNVERKS A.B. 20 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 60775/68. Heading B3R. [Also in Division C7] Steels are joined or hard-faced by means of arc-welding with a bare (solid or tubular) or coated wire electrode, the weld deposit having the following weight percentage composition:- subject to the proviso that The structure of the weld deposit should contain martensite, ferrite and austenite such that the martensite proportion is 5-50% and the ferrite plus austenite proportions are 50-95% in total. Welding may be effected in an inert atmosphere or under granulated flux. Electrodes may be coated with lime-basic or rutile-basic or -acid coverings: the coatings should also contain one or more of the weld deposit alloying elements to compensate for loss by burning. Steels which may be welded are unalloyed, lowalloyed or stainless, e.g. of the following types: 16Cr-5Ni-1Mo; 12-14Cr, 0-3Ni, 0-2Mo; and at least 13Cr, 3À5Ni. The weld deposit may be stress-relieved at 550-700‹ C.
