Abstract

1,248,868. Projectile fuzes. ETAT FRANCAIS. 18 Dec., 1969 [19 Dec., 1968], No. 61845/69. Heading F3A. Detonator for a missile or projectile, comprises an element 1 e.g. piezoelectric or ferroelectric which generates an electric signal when compressed by a hammer 5 guided in a support 6. The hammer is engaged by the nose member 7 of the projectile, these two parts having interengaging surfaces capable of producing a wedge action to operate the device regardless of the direction of impact. As shown, the nose member 7 has a narrow fracturing zone 8. The support also has a fracturing zone 12. The interengaging surfaces are conical. The element 1 is enclosed between a cap 2 and anvil 3 connected to output pins 4. The device is operative even with high angles of incidence of impact e.g. 60‹ or more.
