Abstract

1,248,421. Photo-sensitive diazotype materials. SCOTT GRAPHICS Inc. Sept.12, 1968 [Sept.13, 1967], No.43523/68. Heading G2C. A light-sensitive diazotype composition comprises (a) a diazonium salt derived from an amine of formula wherein R is alkyl or cycloalkyl containing up to 6 carbon atoms, R 1 and R 2 are alkyl with 1-3 carbon atoms, R and R 3 completes a saturated heterocyclic ring containing up to 7 atoms, (b) a coupler and (c) an alkylene diamine of formula or an imidazoline of formula wherein Ar is phenyl or m or p alkyl-substituted phenyl, R 5 is alkylene of 2 or 3C which may contain alkyl or phenyl substituents, R 6 is H, alkyl 1-5C, aralkyl 17-10C or Ar and R 7 is methylene or phenyl-substituted methylene are used as background discolouration inhibitors. The composition preferably contains at least two couplers, at least one of each of the following formulae: wherein R 4 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or alkoxy, argloxy aralkoxy or halogen and 2 is hydrogen or halogen and at least one R 4 is 2 is other than hydrogen, and wherein X is trifluoroalkyl, carbolkoxy, sulphamyl, carbamyl or acyl. The composition is coated on a support such as transparentized paper, cellulose ether or ester or polyester subbed with cellulose acetate butyrate, imagewise exposed and developed to produce a stable azo dye image. The composition may contain hexafluorophosphoric acid as acid stabilizer.
