[Also in Division E1] A vehicle emergency exit window comprises a window frame 3 secured to the surround 21 of the window aperture, as by screws 19, the frame having an edge face directed inwardly and a sash 2 carrying pane 24, having an edge face directed outwardly, the confronting faces, having recesses so that when the window is closed the recesses together define a channel in which an inflatable annular resilient tube 1 is accommodated to function as a locking device for the window when the tube 1 is inflated, and a resilient spring 6 urging the sash to open, and means such as a lever 7 on the sash 2 which can be turned from the sash to enable its end 27 to puncture the tube to deflate it, whereupon the spring 6 pushes the sash to open the window and allow exit therethrough from the interior of the vehicle. The tube 1 when inflated also functions as a weather or draught excluder seal strip between the sash and frame.
