Abstract

1,247,524. Filter cartridges for gas masks. ETAT FRANCAIS. 26 Nov., 1968 [27 Nov., 1967], No. 56133/68. Heading B1T. A filter cartridge for a gas mask comprises a first section 1 having a filter element 10 for separating out solid particles and a second section 2 having an adsorbent filter element, the two sections being joined by a releasable locking ring 3 - which embraces flanges of the two sections 1 and 2 separated by a flange of a moulded plastics member 7 which peripherally seals the element 10. The latter may be of pleated paper, and the member 7 may be moulded around it and bonded to the housing of section 1. The element of section 2 may be activated carbon packed between synthetic paper sheets 8 supported by grids 5 held in grooves in the housing 2. The ring 3 can be removed by tearing, using a sardine-can-type key on a tap 4.
