Abstract
1,247,318. Electrochemical cells. HONEYWELL Inc. 18 March, 1970 [19 March, 1969], No. 12931/70. Heading H1B. An electrochemical cell of either the active type or deferred action type comprises a lithium metal anode, an electrolyte solution consisting of lithium hexafluoro-arsenate dissolved in methyl formate, and a cathode, which consists at least for a major part thereof, of AgCl, nickel fluoride, copper chloride, copper bromide or at least one of the oxides of groups IVB, V, VIB and VIIB metals, such as MnO 2 or V 2 O 5 . Carbon black or graphite and binders such as paper fibres, cellulose acetate, and/or polystyrene may be mixed with the cathode material. The anode and cathode conductors may be made of C, Ag, Cu, Pt or Ni. A glass filter mat may act as porous separator between the anode and cathode plates and the cell structure enclosed in a polyethylene case.
