Belt fastenings.-Relates to a jointed belt fastening constructed without a separate joint pin and having the teeth for securing the parts to the belt ends integral with the said parts. Male and female parts are stamped nut of metal as shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 respectively, the male part having teeth a<1>, a<2>, c', c<2>, and I-shaped slots k formed therein, and the female member teeth a<3>, a<4>, c<3>, c<4> and T-shaped slots l, m. These blanks are then bent to the forms shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the axes about which the blades are bent being such that the rows of teeth after bending do not register. The belt ends are inserted between the teeth and by means of a hammer are driven obliquely into the belts. The male part is then inserted in the female by holding the two parts at an angle as shown in Fig. 8, so that the swellings g of the male part can pass through the portions m of the slots in the female part, and the parts are securely attached when turned into line. In modifications, the bottom plate of each part is omitted and in one arrangement, the portion of the male part forming the hinge pin is made continuous.
