Abstract

Ferrules or tips.-A ferrule for canes, umbrellas, and crutches comprises a tubular member, a spring cushion, a plug below the spring cushion, and means for limiting the movement of the plug. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, which is applicable in the case of a wooden stick, an abutment 7 is provided and the tubular member 2 and plug 3 are tapered and thus provide a means for limiting the outward movement of the plug. Fig. 3 shows a construction suitable for the tubular metal stick of an umbrella, an indentation 18 providing the abutment and the plug 14 being recessed at 15 to provide shoulders co-operating with the indentation to 'limit the movement of the plug. A solid rubber cylinder may replace the coiled spring 11. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement in which two indentations 22, 25 are made.
