Abstract
1,246,314. Threshing-machines. ARENCO A.B. 16 Oct., 1968 [31 Oct., 1967], No. 49051/ 68. Addition to 1,003,506. Heading A1F. [Also in Division A4] Apparatus for threshing tobacco leaves and separating cut leaves from stalks &c. comprises a threshing chamber 3 provided with an opening for the introduction of leaves, a threshing wheel or drum 5 adapted to be rotated within the chamber about a vertical shaft 4, a separating chamber 7 at least partially surrounding the cutting chamber, and an open-ended generally tubular cap member 10 located above the chamber 3 with the lower end of the member extending into the upper part of the chamber so as to define an annular space therebetween. Air is sucked through a pipe 2 by a fan and part passes upwardly between a housing 1 and the cap and part is deflected in an S-shaped path and passes through the cap via the top of the chamber 3, the leaves with stems being thrown down into the threshing wheel. The chamber 3 is in direct communication with the chamber 7 via a grid 8 and the said annular space. The upper end of the cap is tapered to reduce the air speed therethrough and extends upwardly beyond the separating chamber.
