Abstract

1,125,608. Harvesting machines. s. MASSEY-FERGUSON (AUSTRALIA) Ltd. 27 Sept., 1965 [28 Sept., 1964], No. 39510/64. Heading A1F. A harvester for tall crops comprises a topping unit, and gathering arms which guide crop to a cutter from whence it passes through a chopping unit and over an air blast from duct 21 on to a elevator 11. A fan 19 is arranged to discharge an air blast through the chopped crop falling from the elevator on to a discharge conveyer 13. The outlet for the trash entrained in the air blast is through an opening 20 which could, alternatively, be provided in the rear of the housing 12. A duct can be connected to the opening to guide the trash on to the ground.
