Abstract

1,246,313. Heat-shrinkable polystyrene film. RICOH K.K. 14 Oct., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967; 28 Nov., 1967], No. 48538/68. Heading B5B. [Also in Division G2] Shrinkable polystyrene film is made by (a) winding melt extruded and stretched film on a reel and subjecting it to 80-90‹ C. for 2-3 days; (b) immersing melt extruded and stretched film in water at 80-90‹ C. for 2-3 hours, or (c) dissolving prestretched film in a solvent and recasting the solution. Films (a) and (b) have LD and MD heat-shrinkages less than 8%; in one example the LD value is 7% and the MD value is 1%. All films wrinkle on exposure to heat (see Division G2).
