Abstract

1,245,261. Photo-cell thermo-sensitive materials. AGFA-GEVAERT. Dec. 9, 1968 [Jan. 9, 1968], No.1320/68. Heading G2C. A process for producing dye images comprising either (i) image-wise exposing a material containing a diazonium salt to light, contacting it with a sheet containing a coupler of formula:- wherein Z completes an aromatic ring system which may be substituted and R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkaryl, alkyl, aryl or hydroxy, and heating to transfer the coupler and produce a dye image or (ii) image-wise exposing a sheet containing the above coupler while in contact with a sheet containing a diazonium salt to produce a dye image. The invention also relates to a sheet containing a coupler of the above formula. This sheet may contain light-or heat-absorbing substances and be image-wise exposed to flash as in Specification 1,139,891. Alternatively, this sheet may contain the image which may be produced by silver salt diffusion transfer or from an exposed emulsion coated on the sheet. The compound may be impregnated in the sheet or coated in a layer containing a heat-meltable resin. The diazotype material may contain trichlor- or tribrom-acetic acid, phosphoric acid, urea or allyl isothiocyanate.
