Abstract
1,244,958. Electric motors. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 20 March, 1970 [25 March, 1969; 10 Feb., 1970], No. 13479/70. Heading H2A. In an electric motor having a rotor at least partly made of permanent magnetic material and stator coils which extend parallel to the rotor axis and also radially, parallel to axial end surfaces of the rotor, magnetic field sensitive electronic devices for commutating the current through the stator coils are disposed between an axial end surface of the rotor and the adjacent radially extending parts of the stator coils. The motor disclosed has a diametrically magnetized P.M. rotor 1 and stator coils 3 having radially extending portions 7. Two Hall plates 6 (only one shown) are mounted at 90 degrees to one another in an insulating plate 9 carrying a printed circuit to which the Hall plates are connected. Stray flux is passed through the Hall plates with the aid of polepieces 20, 21 and an annular iron plate 8 which also serve to urge the rotor against a thrust bearing 19. Conductive metal studs 14 connect the printed circuit to the control circuitry housed in space 25 within an aluminium casing 23, 24.
