Abstract
1,018,010. Electric generators. C.S.F. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Jan. 21, 1964 [Jan. 25, 1963], No. 2694/64. Heading H2A. A tachometer generator comprises a hollow cylindrical stator having at least one diametral air gap in which is inserted at least one semiconductor Hall plate 21, 22 having a first side at right-angles to a magnetic flux 37, 38 induced in the stator upon rotation of a rotor coupled by a shaft to a motor, not shown, and a second side parallel with the flux and normal to which a current is caused to flow in the plate. The rotor is a non-magnetic bell of good conducting metal, and the field whose axis may be turned to reduce the generator null voltage is created by a permanent magnet having soft magnetic alloy polepieces 11, 12. In an alternative embodiment, the positions of the magnet and stator shells 23, 24 with respect to the rotor are transposed. The applied current may be either direct or alternating, and will result in a corresponding output voltage.
