Abstract

1,244,852. Container traffic. A. J. REEKS. 6 Aug., 1969 [22 Aug. 1968], No. 40196/68 Heading B8Q. To facilitate unloading, a swop body 8, Fig. 1, has a set of detachable wheeled legs 24. The lorry is run on to ramps 31 and the legs are attached by pushing tubular projections 28, Fig. 6, of the legs, into the ends of tubes 18 on the stillage which supports the body. Arms 26 on the legs 24 are moved into contact with stop brackets 20 by pivoting the legs, and locking pins 29 are inserted. The lorry is now run off the ramp and the legs raise the body clear of the chassis from which it is disconnected. Alternatively, the body may be raised by four hydraulic jacks before the legs are attached. Locking means engage the tubes 18 to secure the body to the chassis during transit. Centralizing members for the body are provided at the front and rear of the chassis.
