Abstract

1,244,845. Laminates for roof lining. RUBEROID CO. Ltd. 14 Aug., 1968 [16 Aug., 1967], No. 37750/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division E1] A roof includes as the slater's underfelt a laminate comprising a thermoplastic sheet bonded to an insulating layer; the underfelt is secured to the rafters with the insulating layer lowermost, battens are placed over the underfelt and secured to the rafters and roofing materials are finally positioned on the battens. The thermoplastic sheet may be polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, chlorinated polyethylene or polyethylene terephthalate and the insulating layer (which is preferably 0À75-1À5 inch thick in the uncompressed state) may be mineral wool, glass wool or a flexible foam of polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyethylene, polyurethane, polyether or polyester. The layers may be bonded by contact adhesive, rubber or bitumen and by pressing between rollers. The thermoplastic sheet may extend beyond the edges of the insulating layer, and may have bonded to its other face a bituminized layer of felt, glass fibre mat or fabric, or asbestos wool or fabric.
