Abstract
1,244,375. Concrete reinforcing lattice beam, concrete beams. JOHN LAING & SON Ltd. 27 Aug., 1969 [28 Aug., 1968], No. 41175/68. Headings E1K and E1W. [Also in Division B3] A structure for connecting two or more longitudinal bars 4 of a lattice girder or like concrete reinforcing member, is wound from a continuous element 1, the winding progressing throughout the same longitudinal direction with a series of repeated configurations (as viewed from an end of the girder), which series defines an aligned series of loops 5 for each longitudinal bar 4. The successive repeated configurations are initially closely positioned, and after threading the bars 4 through the loops 5, the structure is axially expanded along the bars, the diameter of the loops 5 being thereby reduced so that the loops 5 grip the bars 4. Two such wound structures may be used with one set of longitudinal bars, such structures being shown at 12 and 18, Fig. 2, 12 and 19, Fig. 4 (not shown) and at 1 and 10, Fig. 10. A composite plank may be formed by casting two of the bars in a concrete slab 6 as shown in Fig. 8.
