Abstract
1,243,802. Fluosilicic acid purification. L. A. MITCHELL Ltd. 6 Oct., 1969 [25 Sept., 1968], No. 45618/68. Heading C1A. Fluosilicic acid is purified by adding its aqueous solution to a boiling solution of concentrated phosphoric acid, scrubbing the vapour produced with fluosilicic acid of concentration over 30% by weight, then absorbing hydrogen fluoride and silicon fluoride from the vapour in water or fluosilicic acid of concentration less than 30%. In an example, fluosilicic acid, concentration 15-30%, is fed to an evaporator containing phosphoric acid, concentration 45- 55% P 2 0 5 , from which it is evaporated at reduced pressure and at 65-95‹ C. The vapour is then sprayed with saturated fluosilicic acid; in a scrubber, and finally dissolved in cool fluosilicic acid in a scrubbing tower.
