1,243,743. Selective signalling. MERRICK SCALE MFG. CO. 5 Feb., 1969, No. 6323/69. Heading G4H. In a system for measuring the total mass carried by a conveyer, part of the conveyer belt is supported by a pivoted 17, Fig. 2, table 11, which is retained by a leaf spring 24, Fig. 3, and forcibly oscillated, by a feedback loop comprising an inductive pick-up 73, Fig. 3, and a solenoid 37, at its resonant frequency, which will vary inversely with the mass on it, and the oscillations are counted. The coupling between the solenoid 37 and the table includes a lost motion linkage 40, 41 and the coupling from the table to the inductive pick-up includes a linearizing cam arrangement 61.
