Abstract

1,243,639. Pickling metal coils. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE A. G. Dec. 19, 1968 [Jan. 11, 1968], No. 60486/68. Heading C7E. A method of pickling coils of strip or wire 7 in which the coils are supported on a carrier 5 which is vibrated e.g. by unbalanced motors 4, so that the frequency of the vibrations are above the natural frequencies of the coil windings and the amplitude is greater than the rate of fall of the coils so that the coils are periodically separated from the support. The coils are preferably supported on the fluted hook 6 on support 5 which is mounted on springs 3 or a rubber suspension and is directly connected to the out of balance motors 4. The frequency of vibration is less than 16 Hz.
