Abstract

1,026,358. Vibration dampers. ROVER Ltd. April 10, 1964 [Jan. 11, 1963], No. 14849/64. Divided out of 1,020,857. Heading F2S. In an anti-vibration system for a vibratable machine such as an I.C. engine 1 a bar 4 of flat spring steel carrying a heavy mass 5 at its outer end and connected at its inner end to a bracket 3 on the engine 1 is supported, intermediate its ends, on a resilient mounting 8, 9, 10 mounted on a support framework 2. The oscillatory mass 5 can be adjustably secured along the bar 4 to eliminate the particular large vibrations being transferred to the framework 2 through the resilient mounting 8, 9, 10, the region of damped vibration frequencies being initially decided upon by the choice of the effective length and stiffness of the bar 4 and the size of the mass 5.
