Abstract
1,243,405. Roadway markers. AMERACE ESNA CORP. 18 July, 1968 [21 July, 1967; 25 June, 1968], No. 34350/68. Heading E1G. A roadway marker 10 has a base 16, an upper face 24 with an upper surface portion 34 which is inclined at an angle A to the roadway, a reflector body or bodies 12 of light-transmitting synthetic resin removably fixed to the upper surface portion 34 and having an outer face 40 and an inner face 42 the outer face making an angle B of at least 15‹ and preferably not above 50‹ with the roadway and the inner face including a series of cube corner reflectors with the apices remote from the outer face and the cube diagonals at an acute angle to the normal to the outer face, preferably with these cube diagonals at about 13‹ to the reflected beam. The inner surface may be as in Fig. 5 with a series of retroreflective surfaces 44 and a series of planar reflecting surfaces to provide daylight markers as well as headlight illuminated markers. The marker may have a castellated base (Fig. 7 not shown) and the reflector body or bodies may be secured to the marker with adhesive, slotted in grooves, fixed by press studs, or held in place with a central screw.
