Abstract

1,243,176. Floating booms. UNIROYAL Ltd. 3 Dec., 1968 [8 Sept., 1967], No. 41091/ 67. Heading E1H. A floating boom comprises a float member 2 of cured foamed natural or synthetic rubber or plastics material enclosed in a sheath 4 of fabric coated with an oil-resistant plastics material, the coated fabric depending from the float member to form a curtain 5 which is weighted at its lower edge 6. In a modification, the float member is of truncated conical form and is recessed at its larger end to allow a stud and socket connection of two booms.
