Abstract

1,242,968. Cooling liquids. PAXMAN COOLERS Ltd. 28 Jan., 1970 [11 Aug., 1969], No. 40117/69. Headings F4H and F4S. A liquid cooling apparatus comprises a tank 10 containing a cooling medium, e.g. water or oil, and a matrix 12 of tubes of serpentine form formed into two separate circuits 13, 18, the former having an inlet 14 and outlet 16 for a liquid beverage to be dispensed which is cooled by passage through the circuit and the latter circuit forming a passage for a refrigerant from a compression refrigeration system 19. The tubes have plate fins 21 which are assembled together by inserting the tubes through holes in the fins and then expanding the tubes radially outwards into engagement with the surfaces of the holes. The tubes of the circuit 18 are disposed in the upper region of the circuit 13 and between its tubes. A sensor may be positioned in the cooling medium to thermostatically control its temperature by operation of the refrigeration unit and turbulator or pump may be mounted in the tank to agitate the medium.
