Abstract
1,242,899. Automatic temperature control systems. NORTHERN ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 14, 1968, No. 48664/68. Heading G3R. A control circuit for an electrical heater has a heater current switching means which is biased by a phase advancing circuit so that complete half cycles are admitted to the heater dependent on the temperature of the heater element. A heat 10 is serially connected with a thyristor 12 and another heater 44 which influences a temperature dependent resistor 40. An RC circuit 20, 22 connected to gate 18 advances the phase of a supply 14, 16. When the supply is first connected a transistor 25 will be biased conductively allowing current to flow through capacitor 20 and resistor 22 thus causing conduction of the thyristor 12. After a quantity of current has passed through resistor 44, the resistance of resistor 40 is lowered hence transistor 24 and thyristor 12 will be rendered non-conductive. In an alternative arrangement the upper connection of capacitor 20 may be connected to the supply 14.
