Abstract

1,241,098. Bearings. HITACHI Ltd. 20 March, 1969, No. 14835/69. Heading F2A. A thrust bearing assembly has an annular thrust collar 11, Fig. 1, mounted on a vertical shaft 9; a thrust member 8 mounted at the underside of the collar 11 and locked thereto by means of keys 18 for example; a number of bearing shoes 5 which engage the member 8; a number of shoe-supporting members 2; and an annular base 40. Each shoe-supporting member 2 is a spring plate 2c, Fig. 4, which is provided with linear projections 2a and a central projection 2b. The assembly is mounted on a bottom 14, Fig. 1, of an oil chamber R, the latter supplying oil to the assembly and being provided with heat-exchanger tubes 19. The shoe-supporting members 2 may be located with either the linear projections 2a, Fig. 4, or the central projection 2b uppermost; may be stacked, Fig. 11 (not shown); may be used in pairs as shown in Fig. 12; and may have tapered surfaces 20c and a linear portion 20d as shown in Fig. 7.
