Abstract
1,240,927. Subaqueous structures. MOBIL OIL CORP. 8 July, 1969 [15 July, 1968], No. 34291/69. Heading EIH. Erosion, or scouring, of subaqueous ground 15 bearing a structure 10 with legs 14 is minimized by depositing a mass of unconsolidated particulate insoluble material 22 upon said ground circumjacent each leg, the material having a specific gravity of at least four. Deposition of the material is effected by pumps 21 through conduits 17 and annular manifolds 18 containing downwardly facing orifices (19), Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively, each of the legs is hollow and houses a conduit 17b for the material 22, the lower end of the conduit terminating adjacent openings in the leg between packing means 24, 25. The material may be barite, iron oxide, lead shot or celestine.
