Abstract

1,240,471. Distillation column. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. 7 Aug., 1968 [22 Aug., 1967], No. 38552/67. Heading B1R. A distillation column has a continuous plate down which liquid flows in contact with vapour passing upwardly through apertures in the plate. The plate may extend in a helical manner or as shown have the form of a series of inclined ramps such as 2, 4, and 6 separated by flat landings such as 3, 5 and 7. The landings may be perforated or imperforate Baffles 17 may depend from the undersides of the ramps.
