Abstract

1,240,377. Wheel hubs. TRI-ANG PEDIGREE Ltd. 12 May, 1970 [30 June, 1969], No. 32944/69. Heading B7C. A nylon hub 9 comprises two bushes 10, 11, the bushes having aligned bores which are rigidly interconnected, e.g. by a tenon and socket joint, and at least one bush has a bore with an axially-inner section of larger diameter than the axially-outer bearing section, the hub 9 being formed externally with e.g. projections for mounting the hub 9 at the centre of a wheel. In a preferred embodiment each of the bushes 10, 11 has a bore with a counterbored inner section 16 and a smaller diameter outer section 17. The hub 9 is moulded into a centre part 6 of a moulded polypropylene wheel having webs 7 interconnected by axially extending webs 8 and each bush 10, 11 has four projections 14 which are embedded in the material of the wheel. In an alternative embodiment, each of the bushes (20, 21, Fig. 4, not shown) has an outer end flange (22) formed with a number of pegs 23 which extend axially inwardly of the hub to engage tightly in complementary holes in discs (18) of the wheel to which the hub is attached.
