Abstract
1,240,143. Continuous casting. URALSKY ZAVOD TYAZHELOGO MASCHINOSTROENTA IMENT S. ORDZHONIKIDZE. 2 July, 1968, No. 31467/68. Heading B3F. At least two opposed walls 4 of the lower part. 2 of a continuous casting mould are pivotally connected to the two corresponding walls 3 of the upper part 1 and are urged towards each other by springs 5 to contact the shrinking cast strand 6, the wall interconnection being such that unbroken casting surfaces are presented to the strand. The walls 4 of the lower section are connected to the upper walls 3 by springs 8 and pins 7 of eccentric cam form so that the latter adjust the positions of the lower walls 4 when rotated, to ensure the smooth continuity of the casting surfaces. Concentric portions 13 of a pin 17 are located in slotted portions 14 of a wall 3 while an eccentric portion 12 engages in an opening in the corressponding wall 4.
