Abstract

1,239,895. Electricity meter brakes. LANDIS & GYR A.G. 6 March, 1970 [12 March, 1969] No. 10879/70. Heading H2A. An electricity-meter magnetic brake assembly comprises a cuboid-shaped permanent magnet 11 retained by engagement of its longitudinal sides with lugs 8... 10 extending into the longitudinal sides 6, 7 of a rectangular aperture 5 in a carrier plate 1, the longitudinal edges on one side of the magnet being bevelled. As shown, there are two such magnets and plates arranged above a base-plate 3 by a rod 4 having a push fit in all three plates, and by so arranging the lugs that the centre one 10 is in the plate wall of lesser width the magnets, unmachined, may be pressed into place. In modifications the magnet has projecting poles (13, 14) and has retained to its lower side by a clamping leaf spring (16), Fig. 3, or lugs and recesses (22, 23), Fig. 4, a plate (17) of temperature-dependent permeability which may be apertured or of a selected width or thickness to suit the magnet. The carrier plates 1, 2 are mounted as disclosed in Specification 1,239,894.
