Abstract

1,239,164. Cigarette and cigar holders. M. J. DOPPELT. 18 July, 1969, No. 36346/69. Heading A2M. A holder 8 for cigars or cigarettes comprises an outer tubular housing 10 having a plurality of apertures 12 in its wall, a holding member for a cigar or cigarette in the form of a plug 36 having a central bore 52, and an inner hollow porous and absorbent member 30 so formed and positioned within the housing 10 as to form a tortuous or irregular passageway for smoke. A second plug 14, located at the mouthpiece end of the holder 8, may be secured to the housing 10 as shown or may be formed integrally therewith. The absorbent member 30 is formed from a spirally wound tube of flexible fibrous material which is inserted in the housing 10 against the plug 14 and then folded and collapsed on insertion of the plug 36. The housing 10 and the plugs 14, 36 are preferably formed of nylon, the plug 36 including a metal sleeve 54. In use, air enters through the apertures 12 and passes through the wall of the porous member to mix with smoke as it is drawn through the bore 52.
