Abstract

1,239,117. Making fuel injectors; brazing. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 17 Dec., 1969 [18 Dec., 1968], No. 61425/69. Headings B3A and B3R. [Also in Division F1]. A method of making a housing 1 for a fuel injection valve comprises shaping two steel strips of substantially equal width to form a double-walled tube and welding their edges together, along the longitudinal seam, the contacting surfaces of the strips being copper-plated and at least one of the surfaces having at least one longitudinal groove to form an axial fuel passage 2, cutting the formed tube to length, rolling the tube walls together to seal off one end of the or each fuel passage and hard-soldering the copper-plated surfaces together. Annular corrugations 14, 15 are then rolled in, a screw-thread for a nozzle member 3 is cut and annular grooves 6, 8 formed electrolytically. A connecting part 4 is positioned on the housing 1 prior to hard soldering the tube walls so that it too can be soldered. The nozzle member 3 may alternatively be secured to the housing by rolling the end of the housing 1 either over the end of the member, Fig. 4 (not shown), or into a groove in the member.
