1,238,705. Thin layer chromatography apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 3 Oct., 1968 [9 Oct., 1967], No. 46902/68. Heading B1X. Thin layer chromatography apparatus 20 comprises two plates 28 sealed together around three edges, the remaining edge 23, into which the chromatographic sheet is inserted, being left open and being clamped together when the sheet is in place. Indentations 26a, 26b and 25 hold the sheet centred and in place (see Figs. 2-4, not shown), the lower end thereof dipping into reservoir 24. Samples to be analysed are "spotted" on to the sheet, when in place, through apertures 32, and eluent is supplied to reservoir 24 to a level sufficient to include channel 30 through aperture 31. The apparatus is suitably constructed of a transparent thermoplastic polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate.
