Abstract
1,238,352. Steam turbine plant. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. Oct. 7, 1968 [Oct. 6, 1967], No. 47353/68. Heading F1Q and F1T. A steam power plant comprises a steam generator, a high-pressure turbine stage and a low-pressure turbine stage, the steam being reheated between the two turbine stages, there being means for leading part of the steam from the steam generator through the interstage reheater to constitute the heating fluid, there being also a further turbine and means for leading steam that has passed through the interstage reheater as heating fluid to the further turbine as working fluid therefor. The plant shown comprises a steam generator C the steam m 0 from which is divided into two streams m<SP>1</SP> and m 3 , the stream m 1 passing to the HP turbine for expansion therein, the steam m 2 discharging from the turbine passing to a steam separator S 1 where it is separated into steam and water, the steam being divided into two streams m 9 and m 10 , the stream m 10 passing to a first stage reheater R.S.1 then through a second stage reheater R.S.2, the reheated steam m 10 passing to the LP turbine BP for futher expansion therein; the second stream of steam m 9 from the separator S 1 is passed to a feed water heater R 4 and condenses therein; the water m 11 from the separator S 1 also passes to the feed water heater R 4 . The second stream of steam m 3 from the steam generator passes to the second stage reheater R.S. 2 to act as heating fluid, the steam discharging from the reheater to a steam separator S 3 , the steam m 4 <SP>1</SP> from which passes to an auxiliary turbine TA which drives the feed pump PA; the water m 8 discharged from the separator S 3 passes into a de-aerating tank B. The steam m 4 discharging from the turbine TA passes to a steam separator S 2 , the steam m 5 from which passes to the first stage reheater R.S.1 to act as heating fluid, the steam discharging from the reheater to the de-aerating tank B. The water m 7 from the separator S 2 also passes to the de-aerating tank B. The feed water from the heater R 4 passes through a heating coil D which is located below the water level in the de-aerating tank B, the feed water then discharging into the tank. Steam m 6 is tapped from the HP turbine and passed into the de-aerating tank B for direct heating of the feed water therein. The feed water m 0 from the de-aerating tank is passed by feed pump PA back to the steam generator C. The feed water is heated in three heaters (not shown), upstream of the heater R 4 by steam tapped from three stages of the LP turbine BP. A by-pass may be provided across the second stage reheater R.S.2 whereby a part m 12 of the steam m 3 may be passed directly to the auxiliary turbine TA. The by-pass is controlled by a valve R.
